Kinlochleven to Fort william 14mls of relatively easy walking to finish, as a solo hiker I personally find spring & autumn on the west highland way most enjoyable.

Short blast up an iconic hill with some rough ground & winter conditions that Scotia hasn’t had for years. With blue sky & very little cloud cover it was perfect from start to finish, with very few walkers around it felt so peaceful & fresh.early morning on tinto

I finished the evening at Blackwater Campsite with the sun out full & not a cloud in the sky. The Campsite is very central to Kinlochleven with the main street nearby. Excellent selection of shops.

Blackrock cottage

What lies beyond Forest Lodge is the magic that is Black Mount & Rannoch Moor, a fantastic upland plateau of moorlands, rivers, burns & lochs. The distance from Forest Lodge to Blackrock Cottage is 8 miles with the Kings House Hotel nearby. I stopped for lunch at the Hotel before tackling the Devil’s Staircase & over to Kinlochleven.

Long day from Beinglas Campsite to Inveroran Hotel. Stopped at Tyndrum for Haggis & chips(lots of salt & vinegar). I pushed hard over Mam Carraigh & down into Inveroran Hotel for some light refreshment.

Conic hill

By late afternoon I had covered good ground & was stood on conic hill taking in the fantastic views of loch lomond. Conic hill lies along the Highland Boundary Fault, a great geological divide that separates lowland Scotland from the highlands. That evening I stopped just north of Balmaha.
